Congressman Frank Pallone Secures $16 Million for Local Projects, including $900K for radio system upgrade for Piscataway Police Department
This week, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ6) proudly announced that he has secured $16 million in funding for thirteen projects he proposed to the Appropriations Committee.
The projects received approval for funding in the Fiscal Year 2024 federal spending bill, which passed the House of Representatives on March 6. The funds will go toward initiatives focused on rebuilding and repairing infrastructure, supporting low-emission public transit, removing lead pipes, and strengthening coastal resilience.
Here are the 13 funded projects:
- Monmouth University: $625,000 to promote ecological resilience in Raritan Bay.
- Piscataway Police Department: $963,000 to upgrade the police radio system and enhance interoperability with other agencies.
- Aberdeen: $959,752 to replace deteriorating water mains.
- Red Bank: $959,752 for the removal and replacement of lead pipes.
- Sayreville: $959,752 to replace the sanitary sewer pumping station.
- Bradley Beach: $1,416,279 to improve Main Street and make walkways more pedestrian-friendly.
- Edison: $1,600,000 to purchase five electric passenger vans.
- Fair Haven: $1,250,000 to construct a new community center, replacing an old, deteriorating facility.
- Keansburg: $1,000,000 to improve pedestrian access, reconstruct roadways, and enhance drainage.
- South Amboy: $800,000 to complete a multimodal transit hub for Central New Jersey residents commuting to New York City.
- Long Branch: $850,000 to create a green space adjacent to the new Health and Technology Center.
- Neptune: $1,000,000 to repair the Wesley Lake Pedestrian Bridge and improve pedestrian safety.
- Woodbridge: $4,000,000 to construct a new footpath and repair existing pedestrian paths along the Arthur Kill.
“These projects will greatly benefit our communities by addressing critical infrastructure needs, supporting sustainable transit options, and enhancing public safety,” said Congressman Pallone. “This funding represents a significant investment in our district’s future.”
